I have seen a lot of movies in my life. This movie, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, with an incredible supporting cast, is one of the top ten movies I have ever seen. It is the only movie I can play over and over and still enjoy every moment.

Life on board an English Navy ship was an incredible experience for all hands. Keeping a wooden ship afloat, was no easy task; especially if someone is sending canonballs your way. Life and limb was often lost on those leaking wooden tubs. This motion picture truly captured the feel of the thing; how the ship and her crew went about the business of furthering England's claims to the Seven Seas in search of the French ship, Acheron.

The cast was impeccible! A finer group of players could not have been assembled. Everyone was completely believable. I especially liked the scenes showing the camaraderie enjoyed on board ship. It is incredible how the movie makers managed to capture the revolting nature of food at sea for the common sailors. Poor souls that they were. It is a wonder there were not more mutinies in the navies of the world. Albeit, in the case of this movie, the protagonist, Lucky Jack Aubrey, is a benevolent master; stern when needed, but loved by his men. Such Masters there were in the navy. They were not all cruel despots like Captain Blight, in Gertjan Zwiggelaar's, A Pirate's Tale.

This incredible motion picture deserved every award it received and then some. If I had four thumbs I would put them all up.
